I’m going to be wearing my great grandmother’s solje jewelry at my wedding. It’s such a gorgeous way to connect to my heritage on such an important day. I really wanted my jewelry to be important to me in a bigger way than dropping a small fortune on each piece. Besides I think they look pretty spiffy:

For those of you who don’t know solje is the traditional jewelry of Norway. We sometimes call it spoon jewelry for the little gold “spoons” that hang off every piece. I’m also borrowing the solje necklace my sister bought on a trip to Norway. Now all we need is some lutefisk and it’ll be a real Norwegian affair! Uff da!
